Electric Energiza

Everyday life in Sofala, Mozambique, has changed. The implementation of the Energiza Project has allowed to electrify a rural area whose impact extended over 120 people

It provided a different daily living for a population who had never lived with electrical power before. In the village of Chissinguane – one of the four being supplied with clean solar energy through the Energiza Project – it is now possible to have access to frozen fish and fresh water. And the electrification of substructures such as market stalls and health units, p.e. the local hospital, has definitively improved the life of these Mozambicans.

Promoted by the Galp Foundation and FUNAE, Mozambique’s energy fund, Energiza is the result of a 600 thousand euros’ investment. The solar power plant of Sofala, in Chissinguane, has a capacity of 30 KWp and allowed for 62 connections, including the implementation of a public lighting network and, besides Sofala, the project will also benefit, overall, nearly 6000 people through the installation of solar photovoltaic systems in Cape Delgado and Manica.
