The last step towards the electric mobility market phase is linked to the payment of the charges made on the street in Standard Charging Stations. To complete this stage, the operation of the 663 charging stations (close to 1500 plugs) that still belonged to Mobi.e (Electric Mobility Managing Entity) had to be commissioned (through an international public tender, for a period of 10 years).
Given the size of this charging network, and in order to ensure the distribution to multiple operators, 11 lots were defined with similar characteristics, grouped by country, with each operator being limited to a maximum of 3 awarded lots.
Given that the electric mobility business is still at an early stage, but quickly accelerating, the main operators aim to establish partnerships and increase the capillarity of their networks, so as to cover areas with higher potential. This tender was very important, given that it allowed for a highly relevant and practically instant growth of the networks.
Galp was one of the 4 operators that was awarded lots, receiving three lots, the maximum number available. The 176 charging stations (a total of 400 charging plugs) will be integrated into the GalpElectric network. We can expect the beginning of the market phase of these stations to occur in the second half of this year.
The charging stations from the Mobi.e tender, as well as the 12 Fast Charging Stations and the 9 Ultra-Fast Charging Stations that were recently awarded in a public tender from the Oeiras Municipality, will be added to the 80 Galp Electric charging stations already in operation in Galp stations, Sonae Sierra, Makro, among other partner areas and on the street.
