What the Portuguese think about energy

Catholic University study reveals that 90% of the Portuguese population regard the energy sector as important or very important

The Portuguese Catholic University has conducted a study, on a national scale, to find out what Portuguese citizens think about energy, its sources and use.

Despite acknowledging the use of renewable sources for the production of electricity, the Portuguese have no desire to pay more for it. And the truth is that few people know that the country still depends significantly on imports, particularly primary sources of a fossil nature, to meet its needs, and that almost nobody considers the hypothesis of the construction of a nuclear power plant to offset the balance a little more.

The automobile is the most common means of travel in Portugal, however, our citizens are willing to change their lifestyle and consumption habits to protect the environment, even if this entails a measure of discomfort.

A highly significant percentage of the population believe that oil is essential to guaranteeing needs in this regard, above all in the transport sector.
