Flow opens new offices with an eye on the global market

Flow has opened their new offices at the Galp refinery in Leça da Palmeira. The mobility of the future has a new home at which to prepare for the market on a global scale

A revolution is flourishing in the field of mobility that promises to drastically change the manner in which people and companies relate when it comes to managing and thinking about mobility. This revolution, known as Flow, is a Portuguese startup that arose from the technological partnership between Galp and CEiiA (Product Engineering and Development Centre), and that has already implemented several projects related to mobility in cities and companies.

Boasting new facilities in one of the buildings at the Leça da Palmeira refinery, Flow is an essential part of Galp's strategy of investing decisively in new forms of mobility, which is underlined by the budget allocated to investment in this area. During the presentation of Flow's new premises, Carlos Gomes da Silva, Galp´s CEO, declared that the company´s target is for 40% of its financial effort to be assigned to projects and businesses associated with a low-carbon or even zero economy, stressing that Galp's ambition is “to be an operating system for urban mobility on a global scale”.

Carlos Gomes da Silva highlighted Galp's ambition: “to be an operating system for urban mobility on a global scale”

As far as Carlos Gomes da Silva is concerned, the rate at which the world has been changing, and the tendency of such changes to speed up, requires specific strategic positioning and the need to view this new era as an opportunity. “We are experiencing a unique moment and if we embrace it and manage to remain at the forefront, we will emerge winners”, he argues, adding that “mobility is part of this company´s DNA, and as such these new technological challenges are also a challenge for the creation of a new business logic at Galp itself”.

Flow has taken on a central role in this challenge, with its modular and scalable solutions enabling us to speed up the adoption of shared electric mobility and, in the near future, autonomous mobility. Jane Hoffer, introduced as the CEO of Flow, recalled that the primary aim of the disruptive energy and mobility services provided by the startup is to significantly benefit our world on a long-lasting basis. "We want to enhance the role of Flow as a sustainable driver of current mobility programmes, both in the private and public sectors, to optimise the manner in which people move around and contribute to the global decarbonisation effort", declared the executive.

Susana Quintana-Plaza, executive director of Galp, in charge of the areas of Renewable Energies, New Business and Innovation, and chairperson of the Flow´s Board of Directors, is of the opinion that this startup has enabled "Galp to achieve a leading position in a fundamental area for the development of mobility both in the present and the future”.

This step “has prepared Flow to move on to the next level", says Susana Quintana-Plaza

ith a team of 50 employees, Flow already boasts the biggest electric vehicle charging network in Portugal. The partnership with Galp, one of the key players in the global energy market, will enable the company to scale its activity in a decisive manner, promoting the provision of its services while focusing on innovation and the technological development of increasingly effective solutions.
