The launch of the 2nd edition of Global Teacher Prize Portugal (GTPP), an annual award made to teachers who have developed approaches regarded as innovative for meeting specific challenges, has a new feature this year: the disclosure of a study that measures the perception of the Portuguese with regard to the role of the teacher in their lives and the educational system in general. José Jorge Teixeira, a physics and chemistry teacher at Dr. Júlio Martins Secondary School, in Chaves, was elected the best Portuguese teacher in the 1st edition.
