“The sea that unites us”

This is the title of the exposition promoted by the Galp Foundation on display at this year´s edition of World Press Photo, the biggest and most prestigious photojournalism exposition in the world

Six talented photographers from six different regions of the planet invoke a discussion on the protection and sustainability of the oceans and their relationship with local communities, based on their powerful images. Entitled “The sea that unites us”, this Galp Foundation exposition will be open to the public until 19th May at the Natural History and Science Museum, in the district of Principe Real, in Lisbon, at the biggest and most prestigious photojournalism exposition in the world: World Press Photo.

According to Sofia Tenreiro, COO of Commercial Business at Galp, “The sea that unites us” exposition is highly pertinent “due to the importance of the oceans and all maritime resources both to the world and Galp´s own operations”.

Moreover, in the opinion of Sandra Aparício, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at the Galp Foundation, this initiative is all about the Company´s strategy in relation to engagement with local communities, taking into account “our knowledge of the world around us and the manner in which each one of us experiences this world and how we can make a difference”.

The 62nd edition of World Press Photo exhibits 140 photographs selected by the World Press Photo Foundation this year. They were taken by 43 professional photographers from 25 different countries, who have brought their images of the world to Lisbon through their lenses. The magazine Visão and Galp joined forces to organise the event.
