“We want to lead the energy transition”

The investment in renewable energies is one of Galp's priorities. We already lead in solar supply in the Iberian Peninsula, but we want to strengthen our portfolio with biofuels, green hydrogen and lithium. Andy Brown, CEO, believes that “we are on a very interesting journey”

Galp's presence at the Web Summit, which took place between the 1st and the 4th of November, was an opportunity to attract the best and the most skilled to work with the company in the development of projects and ideas that contribute to achieve the goals of the energy transition.

For Andy Brown, this presence, the first with its own space and as a sponsor, was the first of many. In the CEO's opinion, this will be the starting point for the reinforcement of an innovation ecosystem that Galp is developing. The launch of Upcoming Energies, the 'innovation factory', which will help to host ideas and projects from start-ups, larger companies or universities, will allow us to test these technologies and speed up their implementation in the market. We want to create new opportunities, embracing the technological community, in order to meet our challenges, says Andy Brown, recalling that the energy transition is the future. We will change our portfolio and this will be a very interesting journey, he concludes.
