Always with the security chip

Margarida Sousa, aged 40, is the Safety, Security, Health and Environment Officer. She often travels to Africa with the mission of promoting good practices

“The Safety journey is continuous. It is made every day, inside and outside work, and the example we set is crucial!” Margarida de Sousa is responsible for Safety, Health and Environment in Galp’s international area devoted to downstream in Africa. She travels quite often in the continent – Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and Swaziland – to implement security, health and environment norms in those areas. It is a challenge. But this environmental engineer is not scared easily: her mission is to bring her experience to her colleagues in these different regions. Margarida often travels for work, requiring a lot of flexibility and family support. She enjoys going back to places she’s already visited, and to discover new ones together with her husband and two children. When she is on holiday, she takes her camera and captures striking moments and spaces. This is one of the hobbies she’s had since she was a child, partly because of her father, who also enjoys photographing.

Energisers – an exhibition about people – portrays Galp employees based in Portugal, Spain, Mozambique and Brazil who ensure the necessary energy to guarantee the world does not stop.
The result of a partnership with VISÃO magazine, this photo report created by photographers Arlindo Camacho (Portugal), Enric Vives-Rubio (Spain), Mauro Vombe (Mozambique) and Jardiel Carvalho (Brazil) shows us, through a unique perspective, who these people really are beyond their professional role. How they spend their days, where they come from, how they live, what they did to get where they are and what dreams they still wish to fulfil.
